I will almost certainly move the kernel versions for all the non Raspberry Pi Foundation boards up a few versions, so yes probably.
This is most likely to happen after Pi-Star 4.x comes out of beta on the Raspberry Pi Foundation boards.

Orange Pi Zero image is being refreshed with the new Kernel, should be on the download server later today.
That brings us back in-line with the current Armbian release, the WiFi on these is still terrible

Yes Pi-Star 4.0 is based on stretch...
The Non Raspberry Pi Foundation boards all run the kernels from Armbian, but the distribution is always Raspbian, this is so that all of the systems work the same. Since there is only the kernel talking to the hardware, there is no need to rebuild the whole system on Armbian.
I hope that makes some sense, remember that linux is only the kernel, the userland is all GNU.

Some observations to share...
Running image from 9 Jan 2019 I observed the following issues (kernel 3.x):
- Transmissions were breaking up and loss was way too frequent, reaching in excess of 20% - even on parrot testing or when listening to TGs
- Behaviour was consistent and similar to thermal throttling of the CPU (dashboard was showing bit over 50C)
- web page refresh is sluggish - send request, wait for it... boom, comes the response - again feels a bit like thermal throttling
- Issues were constant and prevented normal operation - they were worst when connected via wifi; when on Ethernet the issues were still visible (audible?) but if I was desperate I could possibly work with that
Switching to beta image from 11 Jan 2019 (kernel 4.x):
- temperature is 45-46C in normal use
- absolutely no issues with choppy signal observed in first few hours of use - this is both Ethernet and Wifi
- no lag between requesting web interface actions and getting responses
I'm running simplex jumbospot at the moment. Will do more testing and report back.
I got tempted to check out Orange Pi because getting Pi Zero W in UK is almost impossible these days unless you want to pay 2-2.5x the original price, if you're lucky to find one, even at this price point
