Hi all, I'm fairly new to DMR and have installed a hotspot.
My question is around talk groups and my potential lack of understanding the operation of pi-star with them in conjunction with the 9600 I have. The issue i may or may not have could be more related to the radio than pi-star itself.
I for example with to join the talkgroup 4400. I set my radio to make a group call to that contact (TG4400). The system replies back that I'm connected to that talk group.
If i continue to use that channel with TG4400 set it always get a notification back via RF that I'm connected to that channel.
If i change to TG9 i then can use talkgroup 4400 via pi-star as i planned to, but only via TG9 (Local) on pi-star. In my own ming i should leave the radio on TG4400 and transmit that way. I get the repeat back that im linked to TG4400.
So should i indeed use TG9 after selecting the desired talkgroup?
As i said i dont think theres a problem with how i'm using the system but more my understanding of why you'd then use TG9.
So am i doing it correctly?
Many thanks de M1AFY

Re: TYT 9600 and Talkgroups
4400 4401 etc. Are not TG's they're reflectors. You initiate the connection using a private call, not a group call.
Then talk through using tg9 BM. tg8 DMR+. tg6 XLX.
If ur using TG's (reflector) 4400 will be tg 2350. 4401 will be tg2351. 4402, 2352 etc.
