Upgrade from 4.0.0.RC4

Post by GM8ARV »

Any chance of upgrading to 4.1.0 (release) without having to re-install?

Thanks!

In short - no...

4.0 used an older version of Raspbian, 4.1 uses the new buster release.

Fortunately the back-up and restore feature makes this nice and simple.

Thanks. The OS upgrade is a pain, as I have many other things on that RPi which therefore need to be re-installed (SNMP, MRTG monitoring, CPU temperature, SAMBA, NTP configuration, etc.).

I see, well it doesn't work for your setup but Pistar is supposed to be a standalone image.

Sorry!

I use the full image just as normal, it's just that I need to add quite a few things afterwards - mostly for monitoring but also to add a GPS/PPS for better timekeeping. All done and dusted now.
