I have setup Pi-Star on a RPi 3B (tried on a Pi4 but switched to make sure it wasn't an issue with the unit). I am running Pi-Star:4.2.1 / Dashboard: 20240307. As I said, I originally setup this up on a Pi4 but had the issue, so I have built this twice. I'm using a MMDVM Duplex Hotspot Module Dual Hat, and have it configured per the instructions.
I am showing up in BrandMeister correctly. If I try the parrot group, I can talk and I hear the response. If I go to any other talk group, I can talk, but I can't hear any audio. I can see the following (some editing of group info as that is not important.
M: 2024-09-09 22:42:47.826 DMR Slot 1, received network end of voice transmission from YYYYYY to TG xxxx, 0.8 seconds, 0% packet loss, BER: 0.0%
M: 2024-09-09 22:42:49.149 DMR Slot 1, received network voice header from KQ4OJJ to TG xxxx
What can I do to troubleshoot this in more detail? I'm fully comfortable with Linux and RPis, but I don't know what kind of logging to look for more than the live logs. It makes no sense being able to fully test on 9990 but any other TG doesn't let me hear the incoming audio.
I have also set it up as simplex and get the same issue. I can connect to an area repeater with DMR and that works fine.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Outgoing DMR Works, but I can't hear incoming
Re: Outgoing DMR Works, but I can't hear incoming
Could this be an issue of having your DMR radio programmed with a “private call” for the regular talk group (the one where you can’t hear audio)? I ask because I'm pretty sure the parrot talk group (9990) requires a private call in the code plug, but a regular talk group requires the use of a “group call” in the code plug.
Re: Outgoing DMR Works, but I can't hear incoming
I'll check tomorrow but I am mostly sure it's a group call. Thanks for the idea. I'll update when I check. I was coming here to say that if I turn digital monitor on, I can hear the incoming audio.
Re: Outgoing DMR Works, but I can't hear incoming
It sure sounds like a code plug misconfiguration. Good luck tracking it down.
Re: Outgoing DMR Works, but I can't hear incoming
I checked and it's set for group call. When I look at the digital monitor screen, it shows the TG and CC that I have the radio and Pi-Star set to. Again I can key up and be heard on the talk group. I can't hear any incoming from the talk group even though live logs show incoming audio. It doesn't make sense.
Re: Outgoing DMR Works, but I can't hear incoming
I got an answer back on the Facebook group. Someone asked me about receive groups. I had read about them, but it said that many radios don't need them. I never set them up. Well I had to. Once I did, everything started working right. To me, logically if I have a talk group, I should not have to have a receive group to hear the channel I'm talking on. I understand the concepts of being able to listen to multiple groups, but if I'm on one talk group talking, I should be able to receive it. One of the commenters did say that their radios have never required a receive group to be setup, so it's radio by radio I guess. Thanks for the help.
Re: Outgoing DMR Works, but I can't hear incoming
It may be because the hotspot is actually sending the incoming data to TG9 which means that you need that TG in the RX Grouplist.

Re: Outgoing DMR Works, but I can't hear incoming
It shows returning to the correct tg. Also using the digital monitor does show the correct TG and cc. Evidently my radio requires the Rx group but some don't.
Re: Outgoing DMR Works, but I can't hear incoming
No accounting for software/firmware.
