DMR

Post by N7JYS »

I have recently updated to ver 4.1.4 2/2021 and now my stm32-pi-hat will not detect DMR RX. All parameters were set up the same way and after changing levels I still can't get DMR to detect. DMR TX & YSF however worked fine. I can connect to YSF reflector 000001 (parrot) and here myself
just fine. Not sure what has changed in the Modem parameters but it will no longer detect DMR receive signals. FYI after installing the new software I did and update but did not fix the issue. :(

FYI the version I'm running that works is 4.0.0-RC4 with a STM-32 mmdvm pi-hat

This is a Duplex Repeater that has been running DMR service for several years. 442.475 + 5 running a mmdvm pi hat by Scott Zimmerman. Not sure why this is relevant to a software upgrade with a system that has been running flawlessly for years until a software upgrade.

Running version 4.0.0-RC4, I did an update and upgrade which told me I was running the latest version. This was contradicting the message I was getting on the pi-star dashboard. So I downloaded the latest version Pi-Star_RPi_V4.1.4_08-Feb-2021.zip. This had to be a fresh install, however I ran the RC4 version in a different Pi-computer so I was able to copy over all the parameters I needed to get the new software running. CFM4 mode works great as well as DMR TX, just wont detect a DMR RX signals. This leads me to believe there is a compatibility issue between my modem (STM-32 pi_hat) and the new software. I have not reached out to Scott Zimmerman yet to find out if there needs to be a firmware update on the modem board. Might be next on my list.

So Here is an update to my pi-star software upgrade dilemma, the problem was solved by updating firmware in the STM-32 V3 MMDVM board and using the back-up & restore function in Pi-star. The firmware in the MMDVM board has to be flashed with a utility tool. Instructions available at he the website (www.repeater-builder.com.)
