Time format - dislike am/pm

Post by VE3UWY »

Pi-Star:3.4.19 / Dashboard: 20240307 - Nano-Spot so not able to go further.

I kind of like that the box announces the time over the radio side (not to the GW to which I'm connected) but dislike am/pm. Is there a way, GUI or CLI, to tell Pi-Star to use proper 24-h time notation? Could be UTC but will settle for local time.

Note that NTP is working just fine, so the time is correct on the Nano-Spot. I would just like to change the format of the time that is announced on the radio side (and put out as a message on the radio). I expect it's a setting in "Pi-Star Digital Voice - Expert Editors" but I am far from expert (yet).

Nope...

RE: my answer to ur earlier question.
You have what you have with that setup.

Your using an image from 2017, running on discontinued hardware.

I did look in the wiki to see what the options were for the Timeserver settings in the Expert menu, but the wiki is dead. So I went to the Wayback Machine but it appears that the wiki has not had useful data in it for quite some time.

I've also looked for just straight up documentation of those options, but I can't find them (URLs encouraged!).

Not sure I see what any of this has to do with the fact that the hardware is EOL. Yes, it's orphaned HW, I get it, and the software is an old version ... but there should still be docs for that older software.

Not sure about the software status and origins, but if the source is available then it should form its own documentation. Given that it was a product it is possible that it wasn't documented in public, but the 3.4.17 source exists somewhere and may be quite similar to the Nano-spot version.

It says Pi-Star and the dashboard is orange and all the links lead "here" (even directly to this forum). If it's a fork of the upstream, it's not mentioned on the box.

Nonetheless, there is no apparent *user* documentation for any version of Pi-Star. Reading comments in code is not documentation.

I'm downloading the zip of 4.2.x in the hopes that there are breadcrumbs in the code. Doesn't appear that any archive of older versions exists.

I might also suggest deleting any reference to the wiki since it is dead and, from looking at the Wayback Machine, it hasn't worked in a very long time.

Lol - as the page says, it's an image .. as in one you load to a device. I was under the mistaken impression that this was an open source project. So there is no source in which to look for comments.

So no end-user docs and no source in which to search for clues as to the operation of "expert" mode.

Cool!

Carry on!
