DMR JITTER: What does it do

Post by N5BOC »

In the config pages under the path... Configuration / Expert / MMDVMhost ..
There is a setting under DMR Network ( scroll way down ) called JITTER. Can someone explain what this setting does?

Thanks so very much.

Its a packet buffer. Google packet jitter to help you better understand what that is first, itll make it easier to see why upping the value there might help.

Thanks so very much Andy.
I probably should have stated the question a little differently.

What symptom would I see if this is set too low?
Also what happens if it is set too long? What is degraded by the buffer being overly large?

Thanks so much.

My Answer above will also answer your 2nd question.
