Trying to save reflector to Wires Category on FT3D

Post by K3TOM »

I am using an FT3D with an MMDVM hotspot. I have looked in the programming software for a way to save a reflector to a Wires Category but there doesn't seem to be a way to do so in the software.
I watched a You-Tube video where someone used the Search & Direct function and was able to search for a reflector and after clicking on it, the screen changed to the screen that has the "add" button at the bottom middle. He said, "If you haven't been on this reflector before, it will come up with this screen and you will be able to hit the add button to add it to a category." This insinuates that if you have visited this reflector previously, this screen wouldn't come up. I have tested this extensively and I can not get that screen to come up even on reflectors I've never been to using the Search & Direct function.
The only way I have found to add a reflector to a Category is to use the ALL button, which lists all of the reflectors. You then have to page through each screen 20 at a time, refreshing from the hotspot each time. If the reflector you want is three hundred down, it's almost impossible to refresh that many times without losing connection or something going wrong.
Has anyone found a better way to add reflectors to the FT3D?

Use the search feature and search eg. GB, USA, or DL etc. The list you get will be centred on that country. Making the list much shorter. Or use part of the reflector name as a search.

Else look at the dvref listings and use the reflectors listed 5digit reflector no. with dtmf linking
etc. #12345#

That's what I'm saying. When I use the search feature to narrow down the search, for example, to search for America, it will not come up with the screen that has add at the bottom so I can add it to a category. You know, the screen that comes up that also has emergency, weather, news, etc. The only way I can get that screen to come up with add is to use the all function which lists all of the reflectors and you have to page through them all to get to the one you want.
If someone has an FT3D, please try it and let me know how it works for you.

that additional stuff doesnt work with MMDVM. MMDVM was reverse engineered to mimic parts of wires, its not a full replacement. You wont get any of that. WX, emmcom, news etc.
